Maps
About 30-40 years ago people from SURAT THANI and KOH PAHGAN came to settle the island, they were fishermen and cashew growers. The island has a temple and a school, there is a strong community feel here. The people that live here are great, they all take good care of you.
Many people can not leave and stay for MONTHS & MONTHS.

Aow Lek
There are two main bays on the island AOW YAI & AOW LEK they both have lovely bungalows for around 150bt per night. AOW YAI in the NORTH has many RESORTS and is very popular with GERMAN TOURISTS, where as AOW LEK is smaller with only a few RESORTS (this is my favourite bay). This is a very laid back Island.
This is the island where you come to do nothing except relax. It's great for doing long walks and nature watching, or lounging in your hammock.

Koh Phayam beach
This is the other jewel of RANONG, it has a small road and you can rent a bike. It has a temple and a village. This island is more developed than it's neighbour KOH CHANG, it has 2 supermarkets and a couple of internet connections. Adventuring in KOH PHAYAM by bike is nice to do, you go through many CASHEW PLANTATIONS. This is a very beautiful island, and has a strong community feel also.
This island also has two main bays AOW YAI & AOW KWAI, AOW YAI is the most beautiful bay having 3km of white sandy beach....fantastic sunsets.
Sitting in the village is a great pass-time, you get to see village life and the boats coming and going. In the center of the village is a bar called "OSCARS",this is where you eat the best seafood and curries on the island!!! The bar is run by a guy called Richard, he knows everything about the island.
